About Us

We’re two sisters who grew up in India. Our summers were spent in Coorg—often called the coffee country of the South. Our childhood was shaped by misty hills, monsoon rains, and the everyday comfort of coffee that wasn’t just a drink, but part of the rhythm of home.

We started Betta Coffee to bring that feeling of home—and that quality of craft—to your cup. We genuinely believe in: honest coffee, thoughtfully sourced, and rooted in where we come from.

Our Origin

Coorg, also known as Kodagu is a picturesque hill district in the state of Karnataka in the western ghats of India. The region’s cool misty climate, rich red soils and shaded slopes create ideal conditions for high quality coffee beans. Coffee was introduced during colonial times and has become a way of life here.

Coorg coffee is special because it’s grown under a lush canopy of shade trees, alongside pepper vines, oranges, and cardamom. The slow, shaded growing cycle creates a cup that is bold yet smooth, earthy, chocolatey, and deeply aromatic. Coorg produces about 33% to 40% of India’s coffee. As part of Karnataka, which contributes over 70% of India's coffee.

What's in a name?

Our roots in Coorg, India, are at the heart of Betta Coffee, which literally translates to “hill” in the local language. Coffee here is not just an industry; it’s a legacy handed down through generations of small farmers. The name is an ode to the town in Coorg where we are from Bettageri .
